Spring’s Message: Peach Blossoms in Full Bloom.On March 23, the 2025 "Spring of Xionghe" series of events, part of the "Ancient Imperial Homeland, Sea of Flowers in Zaoyang" tourism promotion and Zaoyang City’s 7th Annual Tourism Festival, kicked off in Xiongji Town, Zaoyang City. Over 70,000 acres of peach blossoms burst into bloom, attracting tourists from across the region.

At Jiazishan Mountain in March, visitors reveled in the spring breeze and sea of flowers, capturing cherished memories.

“快来！这里好看，帮我拍一张！”来自襄城的游客卢女士边喊边寻找最佳拍摄点位，“这里的桃花太美了，我们一家人大清早从襄城赶来，虽然有点累，但是很值得！”万亩桃花如云似霞，将广阔的田野和起伏的山峦染成绯红。游客们摆出各种姿势拍照打卡，快门声不断响起，欢声笑语随风飘荡。

"Quick! This spot is perfect—take a photo for me!" exclaimed Ms. Lu, a tourist from Xiangcheng District, as she sought the ideal angle. "The peach blossoms here are breathtaking. My family drove here early in the morning—it’s tiring but absolutely worth it!" The vast fields and rolling hills, painted in hues of pink, became a backdrop for endless photos and laughter.

The spring blossoms have brought both "traffic" and vitality to Xiongji’s agro-cultural tourism market. Activities such as health runs, cycling tours, motorcycle parades, food festivals, camping, study tours, and fishing have enriched the event series, boosting local homestays, catering, and e-commerce industries. For residents, this translates into fuller pockets and brighter smiles.

Once a traditional agricultural town, Xiongji is now charting a new path toward rural revitalization through the "three-industry integration" model, anchored by its "one flower, one fruit" industrial chain.

进入三月以来，气温回暖，看着漫山遍野含苞待放的桃树，李湾村“桃二代”钱辉心中的喜悦挂在脸庞。“父亲钱克成1998年开始种植桃树，2013年成立枣阳市钱辉桃丰果业专业合作社，如今承包桃林500余亩，年收入100余万元。”钱辉说道，“现在镇上村里的路四通八达，外地的客商把货车直接开到我们这里来，当天摘的果子就可以发往东北三省、广东、山东等地，带动周边100余户村民一起增收致富。”

As temperatures rose in March, Qian Hui, a second-generation peach farmer in Liwan Village, gazed at the budding peach trees with joy. "My father, Qian Kecheng, began planting peaches in 1998. In 2013, we established the Zaoyang Qianhui Peach Abundance Fruit Cooperative, which now manages over 500 acres of orchards, generating an annual income exceeding 1 million yuan," Qian shared. "With improved roads, merchants from across China drive directly to our orchards. Freshly picked fruits can reach provinces like Heilongjiang, Guangdong, and Shandong within a day, benefiting over 100 local households."

Villagers’ rising incomes stem from the collective development of the peach industry. In Xiongji, many families like Qian’s have prospered through peach cultivation.

“受地理位置影响，熊集镇的桃子比枣北乡镇的桃子要早3天左右，比其他地方的桃子更是早7至10天，具有先发优势。”毛榨村支部书记莫炳良对记者说道，“每年6月至8月，很多种植大户月收入都是几十万元。在我们这，村民都有地，哪怕种个三五亩桃树，一年也轻松挣个几万元钱。”为了打造精品果园，当地很重视“供水、供电、道路”三通，仅供水一项，就打了6口井、4口堰，确保桃树的充足供水，提升产量。

"Thanks to our geographical advantage, Xiongji’s peaches ripen three days earlier than those in northern Zaoyang and 7–10 days ahead of other regions," explained Mao Zha Village Party Secretary Mo Bingliang. "From June to August, many large-scale growers earn hundreds of thousands monthly. Even smallholders with just 3–5 acres easily make tens of thousands annually." To ensure high yields, the town prioritizes infrastructure—digging six wells and four reservoirs to guarantee irrigation.

To further drive rural revitalization, Xiongji is expanding beyond traditional sales channels by nurturing e-commerce talent. 

熊集镇当前正加快建设“电商小镇”，推进丰美助农电商产业园、熊河村直播电商产业园完工投产，计划引进2至3家电商平台入驻熊集，打通联农带农的供应链体系。熊集镇团委副书记肖梦生说：“我们镇鼓励每个村推荐2至3户年轻人从事网上销售、助农直播，桃花节期间进行试手，并请老师进行指导培训，目前效果很好。”

The town is fast-tracking its "E-commerce Town" initiative, with projects like the Fengmei Agricultural E-commerce Industrial Park and Xionghe Village Live-streaming Industrial Park nearing completion. Plans include attracting 2–3 major e-commerce platforms to establish supply chains linking farmers to markets. "Each village is encouraged to train 2–3 young residents in online sales and livestreaming," said Xiao Mengsheng, deputy secretary of Xiongji’s Youth League Committee. "During the Peach Blossom Festival, trainees received hands-on coaching—the results are promising."

Near Xionghe Scenic Area, rural guesthouses thrive. "Lao Sun’s Farmhouse," a popular spot in Xionghe Village, exemplifies this trend. 

“我儿子和姑娘在外地，我们老两口靠农家乐一年也能挣个近十万元钱！”老孙农家饭的黎道秀说道，“农家乐依靠自己的种植和养殖，靠口味吸引游客，忙的时候一天能接待四五桌，这几年村里发展旅游，来游玩的人越来越多，我们在家门口就吃上了旅游饭。”

"Our children work elsewhere, but my husband and I earn nearly 100,000 yuan a year from our farmhouse," said owner Li Daoxiu. "We grow and raise our own ingredients, attracting tourists with authentic flavors. On busy days, we host four to five tables. Tourism has truly brought prosperity to our doorstep."

In Qianying Village, industries like grapes, pears, and peaches are flourishing, with products reaching global markets. 

“我去年出口葡萄产值有2170多万元，今年将增加桃子、梨子出口，目标不低于3000万元！”枣阳市众赢稻虾养殖专业合作社王修锋对记者说道。2016年，王修锋响应号召，放弃在外创业机会，返乡当起了“新农人”。几年间，他通过引进阳光玫瑰葡萄进行试种植获得成功，产品远销国外，今年已同吉尔吉斯斯坦、乌兹别克斯坦等地建立了桃子销售关系。

"Last year, my grape exports totaled 21.7 million yuan. This year, I aim to exceed 30 million yuan by adding peaches and pears," said Wang Xiufeng of Zaoyang Zhongying Rice-Shrimp Cooperative. In 2016, Wang heeded the call to revitalize rural areas, abandoning his entrepreneurial ventures elsewhere to return home as a "new-generation farmer." Over the years, he successfully introduced premium grape varieties like Shine Muscat, which are now exported globally. This year, he has established sales partnerships for peaches with countries such as Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

“这片是合作社种植的地，这间是分拣、包装的厂房，正在修建的这间厂房是用来冷链运输的，还有几天就修建好了。”王修锋说道，今年他准备在出口葡萄的基础上再出口红桃和梨，这类水果在中亚和欧盟很有市场。“以往我们是将农产品运到别的地方进行包装，然后再运输到口岸，这就存在包装前的运输出现农产品损坏。”王修锋说，为了解决产品运输损坏这一难题，便自己建厂房解决包装和运输环节。

"These fields are cultivated by our cooperative. This building is for sorting and packaging, and the one under construction—set to be completed in a few days—will handle cold-chain logistics," Wang explained. He aims to supplement grape exports with red peaches and pears, fruits in high demand across Central Asia and the EU. "Previously, we had to transport raw produce to external facilities for packaging before sending it to ports, which often led to damage during transit," Wang noted. To address this, he invested in on-site facilities to streamline packaging and transportation, minimizing losses.

桃花带来赏心悦目的春日美景，桃子更是农民增收的致富果。据了解，熊集镇全年鲜桃年产量超11万吨，年产值达到了5亿元以上。全镇各类桃业专业合作组织80多个，桃子分拣点120多个，从事新品种培育、种植技术指导、农资经销、销售代办人员近1800人，万余群众加入摘桃、装桃、售桃大军。桃产业的发展，也带动了农家乐、民宿等行业的兴盛，桃产业已经成为熊集镇特色农业的支柱产业。

Peach blossoms not only paint spring landscapes but also bear the fruit of prosperity. Xiongji produces over 110,000 tons of fresh peaches annually, generating more than 500 million yuan in output value. The town boasts over 80 peach cooperatives, 120 sorting centers, and nearly 1,800 professionals engaged in breeding, farming, and sales. Thousands join seasonal harvesting and packaging teams, while homestays and agritourism thrive alongside the industry.
